Manure separation
Manure separation is the separation of slurry’s liquid and solid components, often referred to as its solid and liquid parts. This result is achieved through the use of different techniques.

- The screw press principle
- The roller press principle
Screw press principle
This technique makes use of a screw press, which builds up pressure within a strainer basket. Because the texture within the press does not fit through the strainer basket, it is pressed out of the end of the machine. The liquid part is funnelled through a drainage hose connected to the manure separator itself.
+ By using this technique a very high percentage of dry matter can be attained in the solid product (solid part)
+ The abovementioned advantage makes the product very suited for the use as box litter.
Roller press principle
With this technique the manure is separated by pressing the slurry through two roll presses. One of these roll presses is a sieve roll in which the liquid part is drained. The solid part is in a way pressed out.
+ In comparison, the energy usage is lower than that of the screw press machine
+ Less maintenance when compared to the screw press machine
+ – Higher capacity compared to the use of a screw press machine.
(The attainable percentage of dry matter in the solid part is insufficient to be used for box litter)
